The New York State Department of Health posted the updated financial eligibility criteria for Medicaid applicants and recipients effective for all new and pending applications.
Income Limit for Community Medicaid
The monthly income limit for a single (not married) Community Medicaid applicant increased from $1,800 in 2025 to $1,836 in 2026. The monthly income limit for a married couple was $2,433 in 2025 and increased in 2026 to $2,489.
Resource Limit for Community Medicaid
The resource limit has also changed for both single and married applicants. For a single applicant, the resource limit increased from $32,396 in 2025 to $33,038 in 2026, and for a married couple the resource limit increased from $43,781 in 2025 to $44,796 in 2026.
Minimum Monthly Maintenance Needs Allowance
The community spouse Minimum Monthly Maintenance Needs Allowance increased from $3,948 in 2025 to $4,066.50 in 2026.
Home Equity Limit
The home equity limit for which the primary residence of the applicant would be an exempt asset for Medicaid coverage of nursing facility services and community-based long-term care was $1,097,000 in 2025 and is $1,130,000 in 2026.
