Laugh & Learn Two Part Event - Top 10 Medicaid Misconceptions (Lindenhurst Memorial Library)

Aaron Futterman, CPA, ESQ. of Futterman, Lanza & Pasculli, LLP will present a program on Medicaid, the nation's largest health coverage program. Authors Barbara Paskoff and Carol Pack join Aaron Futterman, as they share their book, Over-Sixty: Shades of Gray, a humorous journey of the challenges of getting old. A book sale and signing follow the presentations.

The objectives of this presentation are for attendees to recognize the common misconceptions about asset protection and identify goals associated with undertaking asset protection steps. We will discuss specific asset protection vehicles like life insurance.
Learn the reasoning behind the legal measures recommended. Identify several of the more common types of trusts and understand how they impact asset protection and tax liability.
The costs for long term care will be described and possible options available to offset these costs will be discussed. We will discuss the objections some people have about shielding assets as protection.
Learn the updated estate planning laws which need to be considered and where elder law and estate planning fit in with some other practice areas of law . Presented by Aaron Futterman, CPA, ESQ.

100 Pennies - A Journey to Forgive the Unforgivable (Smithtown Library - Nesconset Building)

Aaron Futterman, CPA, ESQ. of Futterman, Lanza & Pasculli, LLP will present on the importance of being financially focused and protecting your assets as you age. Author Gaetane Martin will join Aaron Futterman as she shares her story and discusses her work regarding poverty, domestic abuse and childhood hunger. Gaetane's autobiographical memoir 100 Pennies- A Journey to Forgive the Unforgivable covers her life span from childhood to present, a necessary approach in order to show the repeating patterns of dysfunction that flowed from childhood trauma to adulthood, patterns hiding just below the surface that directed her actions without her conscious awareness. Books will be available for purchase after the presentation.
