Michele S. Gegwich, LMSW
Michele S. Gegwich, LMSW heads the Social Work team at Futterman, Lanza & Pasculli, LLP. Prior to joining this law firm, Michele was a medical social worker at the Visiting Nurse Service and Hospice of Suffolk for several years. Before the Visiting Nurse Service, Michele was a Social Work, Case Manager at Huntington Hospital for a couple of years. Michele works primarily in the Smithtown office while visiting the Garden City and Bay Shore offices on an as needed basis.
Michele has extensive experience in a variety of relevant roles including conducting home visits, assisting with long term planning, intake assessments, support sessions and aiding families with benefits/entitlements including Medicaid, MLTC and VA benefits. This experience gives her the background and the backbone to fiercely advocate for our clients while guiding them every step of the process when they need someone on their side providing encouragement and explanation. Michele works alongside the attorneys and all of the relevant outside parties involved to provide comprehensive advocacy throughout the Medicaid eligibility process and to assist with what is necessary along the way including Medicare and VA benefits.
Michele Gegwich received her Masters in Social Work from Stony Brook and graduated with a 4.0 GPA. She holds her Bachelors of Arts from Ithaca College and has received additional certifications since graduating. Michele is respected by her peers for her in depth knowledge of elder law and elder care and has led several recent continuing education classes for Licensed Social Workers.
