Michelle Gegwich

Michelle S. Gegwich, LMSW heads the Social Work team at Futterman, Lanza & Pasculli, LLP. Prior to joining this law firm, Michelle was a medical social worker at Huntington Hospital and the Visiting Nurse Service and Hospice of Suffolk for several years. Michelle works primarily in the Smithtown office while visiting the Garden City and Bay Shore offices on an as needed basis.

Michelle has extensive experience in a variety of relevant roles including conducting home visits, assisting with long term planning, intake assessments, support sessions and aiding families with benefits/entitlements including Medicaid, MLTC and VA benefits.  This experience gives her the background and the backbone to fiercely advocate for our clients while guiding them every step of the process when they need someone on their side providing encouragement and explanation. Michelle works alongside the attorneys and all the relevant outside parties involved to provide comprehensive advocacy throughout the Medicaid eligibility process and to assist with what is necessary along the way including Medicare and VA benefits.

Michelle Gegwich received her Master’s degree in Social Work from Stony Brook University. She holds her Bachelor of Arts from Ithaca College and has received additional certifications since graduating. Michelle’s significant volunteer efforts include Harborfields Alliance for Community Outreach, Huntington Interfaith Homeless Initiative, and she is a former Trustee Member of the Suffolk County Vanderbilt Museum. Michelle is respected by her peers for her in depth knowledge of elder law and elder care and has led several recent continuing education classes for Licensed Social Workers.
