Preserving & Protecting Your Family’s Assets & Legacy

Heather Reado

Heather N. Reado, LMSW leads the Social Work team at Futterman, Lanza & Pasculli, LLP which includes two long term nurse advocates assisting with Medicaid assessments and other client needs.

Prior to joining this law firm, Heather was a Fair Hearing Social Worker for several years after her promotion from Care Manager at Agewell due to her dedication and expertise.

Heather has vast experience with Fair Hearings with Administrative Law Judges and Representatives. Her research involves staying up to date on the NYS Regulations for Medicaid (Managed Long Term Care) and other related areas. She has extensive experience with Initial Adverse Determinations as well as Final Adverse Determinations which is an asset for the clients at our law firm as Heather advocates for them with Medicaid to be approved for appropriate care levels. Her background reviewing appeals and attending weekly meetings about pending hearings will be helpful as she now sits on the other side of that Medicaid wall and understands the issues well, has professional relationships established and speaks their language.

Heather also has experience as a Care Manager, assisting with home visits, monitoring monthly supplies and phone calls with clients, and working extensively with the interdisciplinary team. Heather takes great pride in her accomplishments and will work alongside the attorneys or independently depending on the client and their needs. Heather will continue to be in charge of our Medicaid appeal process including helping clients who were previously denied before coming to our firm.

Heather works primarily in our Smithtown office while visiting the Garden City and Bay Shore offices as well as being in the community as needed.

Heather believes that there is more than one way to accomplish goals and works hard to be resourceful. Heather has a special needs son and knows the importance of advocacy and staying involved and active to get the best results possible instead of being initially adversarial. Her commitment to being collaborative in helping achieve success while using the strength of her background and her commitment to the clients will not go unnoticed.

Heather Reado received her Licensed Master of Social Work from Fordham University, in New York City. She holds her Bachelors of Social Work from Long Island University-C.W. Post- Brookville campus and has received additional training.

“My favorite aspect of my job is being able to advocate for families and their loved ones in the most vulnerable times of their lives. Helping them remain in their homes and in their communities is such a rewarding experience.”
